Venetian Connection / Beneške povezave

Our first plunge into the HiLoVv - Hidden Live(r)s of Venice educational project leads us to interesting encounters:
On one of the Venetian lagoon islands, the Finotello family produces vegetables and delivers them across the sea to their fellow citizens. Elisabetta is the third generation of florists at the infamous San Michele cemetery island. Modou is a Nigerian immigrant who reveals a few tricks of the bag-selling trade to the filmmakers. Riccardo Bonini is a fireman who thought he knew everything about his profession until he came to work in Venice. In the canal city we also meet Francesco and Lorenzo, two “tree doctors” preserving the Venetian gardens, and in Angelina we meet Dino who wanted to break the family gondolier tradition but could not resist the calling.

Discovering the Hidden Live(r)s of Venice

On one of the Venetian lagoon islands the Finotello familly is producing vegetables to deliver to fellow citizens, Elisabetta belongs to the third generation of flower sellers on the famous San Michele island cemetary; Moudu is a Nigerian immigrant who confides some tricks of the bag-selling trade to the film-makers, while Riccardo Bonini thought he knows everything about being a fireman before he came to work in Venice. We also meet two tree doctors and last but not least a gondolier, who wanted to break free from the family tradition but the calling tempted him back to Venice.

The omnibus Venetian Connection was made in the frame of the HiLoVv - Hidden Live(r)s of Venice educational project, which has been supported by the European Union in the form of a Lifelong Learning - Intensive Programmes grant. The leading partner of the project is University of Nova Gorica School of Arts. 

After two months of research-based script development about the "Hidden Live(r)s of Venice", on November 21 2011 students from three universities and several countries met in the floating city to produce 6 short documentaries about Venice, its interesting professions and personalities..., all under the mentorship of the renowned film director, professor Rajko Grlić. 

Odkrivamo skrita življenja Benetk

Na enem od otokov beneške lagune družina Finotello prideluje zelenjavo in jo čez morje dostavlja svojim someščanom, Elisabetta je že tretja generacija prodajalk cvetja na slovitem pokopališču San Michele, Moudu je priseljenec iz Nigerije, ki ustvarjalcema preda nekaj trikov, kako kupiti in prodati torbice Benečankam in turistkam, Riccardo Bonini je gasilec, ki je mislil, da že vse ve o gasilstvu nato pa je prišel delat v Benetke, srečamo pa tudi zdravnika dreves in nenazadnje še gondoljerja, ki se je želel tradiciji upreti, a ga je poklic premamil.

Omnibus filmov Beneške povezave je nastal v okviru projekta HiLoVv - Hidden Live(r)s of Venice, ki ga podpira Evropska komisija v sklopu Erasmus - Intenzivni programi, vodilni partner projekta je Visoka šola za umetnost Univerze v Novi Gorici.

Po dvomesečnih raziskavah in pisanju sinopsisov o skritem življenju Benetk, so se 21. novembra 2011 študentje treh univerz in šestih držav srečali v Mestu na vodi, kjer so v dveh tednih pod mentorstvom priznanega filmskega režiserja, profesorja Rajka Grlića in ob pomoči kopice drugih mentorjev z matičnih univerz, posneli 6 kratkih dokumentarcev o zanimivih poklicih, osebnostih v tem posebnem okolju...
