V mesecu avgustu bo skupina umetnikov ustvarjala v Hiši na hribu in njeni okolici, med njimi tudi naša magistrska študentka Valerija Zabret aka Valérie Wolf Gang ter predavateljici Petja Grafenauer in Irena Pivka.

Girl with the Pearl Earring is an interactive video installation of a young woman walking her way into the unknown. Her stalker is the visitor himself. When the visitor comes close enough, she turns towards him: a part of her decides to make a step closer, the other part continoues on her own. Video screen stands at the end of a long corridor, two sensors detect distance and direction of the visitor. When he walks towards the screen, video reacts. The protagonist is a revived Vermeer’s painting.

The project springs from their own experience of loneliness in a foreign country and at the same time discusses the paradoxical situation of increasing solitude in a world characterized by intense communication aided by modern technologies. The interactive book and bed make up the audio-visual installation that creates an intimate and pleasant atmosphere, where visitors can browse through the book and choose their bedtime story. The stories that are projected onto the bed are presented in different forms and blur the line between reality and dreams.

Athens Video Art Festival 2011 - Call for entries

Continuing its route through the world of digital arts Athens Video Art Festival starts its journey for 2011 with the annual call for entries.

Submit and present your artwork for its 7th official organization that will take place during springtime in Athens and a tour across Greece will follow it up.

There is neither an entry cost nor a thematic limitation, whereas the categories are:

Zanima me sestavljanje zgodbe iz dokumentarnih posnetkov, snemanje performansa v insceniranem okolju, razlika med percepcijami končnega izdelka glede na to, kako je posnet in v kaj gledalec verjame, da je res, ter kdaj racionalno ve, da gre za čisto iluzijo, pa ji verjame, kot da je resnična. Vedno se mi zdi pomembna tudi zgodba za platnom (ali okoli njega). Umetniški video ni nujno samovsebujoča enota oziroma v večini primerov ni, zato je pomembno, na kakšen način umetnik pristopa k njemu, na kakšen način ga predstavi in prikaže, kaj pričakuje od občinstva. Včasih je njegov namen potegniti gledalca v iluzijo, drugič ravno opozoriti na to, da to, kar gleda, ni resničnost. V nasprotju z umetniškim videom pa film mora biti samovsebujoč - vse, kar ima pokazati, mora pokazati med prvo in zadnjo sličico - in gledalcu načeloma ne sme dati časa, da se zave, da gleda film - iluzija je glavni adut filmske umetnosti.
