Kje vse smo in bomo srečali dela študentov Akademije umetnosti UNG

Dela nastala v okviru akademije spremljamo že vsa leta širom Slovenije in tujine - če omenimo le nekaj festivalov: domači Animateka, Kino otok, Kiblix, Pixxelpoint, Festival slovenskega filma, Nagrada Essl za srednjo in jugovzhodno Evropo, v tujini pa Monstra festival animiranega ilma v Lizboni, Makedox in Cinedays v Skopju, PorečDox, Višegrad na Češkem ... Nedavno smo na pravkar zaključenem 19. Festivalu slovenskega filma predstavili devet študijskih filmov: štiri animirane filme, tri igrane in dva dokumentarna. Grossmannovem festivalu.

Tik pred pričetkom novega študijskega leta, 30. septembra, bomo skupaj z drugimi enotami Univerze Novi Gorici sodelovali na vseevropski prireditvi Noč raziskovalcev.

V novembru in decembru bo akademija v slikoviti vasici Osek sredi vipavske doline gostila dvojno mednarodno umetniško rezidenco, strokovni seminar, skupnostno delavnico ter okroglo mizo, vse to v okviru evropskega projekta PAIC - Udeležbena umetnost za nevidne skupnosti (Participatory Art for Invisible Communities).

Where can we meet UNG School of Arts students and their work?

Works created within the Academy have been seen in Slovenia and abroad since the beginnings of the school - to mention a few festivals: Animateka in Ljubljana, Isola Cinema on the Slovenian coast, Kiblix in Maribor, Pixxelpoint New Media Festival in Nova Gorica, Festival of Slovenian Film, Essl Award for Central and Southeastern Europe, Monstra Festival of animated Film in Lisbon, Makedox and Cinedays in Skopje, PorečDox, Višegrad in the Czech Republic ... Recently, at the just completed 19th Festival of Slovenian Film we presented nine student films: four animated, three fiction and two documentary films. Apart from the Vesna Award for Best Student Film, the only prize in the student selection (last year received by our mster student Valerija Zabret aka Valerie Wolf Gang for her graduate film Distant Memory), the jury this year for the first time added a special mention -for the diploma film "Srdohrd" by our student Ester Ivakič. Vesna Award for Best Short was received by our Master graduate Urška Djukić for her first professional short film "Bon Appétit, La Vie!" derived from her graduate film "Kids". At the Maribor Dokudoc Festival two films produced by the School of Arts were presented, while Dunja Danial's graduate film "Rejects of the Second Generation – Following the Traces of Punk" which won the Hrupni maček Award for best music documentary at the 12th Grossmann festival.

Just before the start of the new academic year, September 30th, we are together with other units of the University of Nova Gorica participating in a pan-European Researchers' Night event. You can join us in the center of Nova Gorica - we watch the stars, play movies, awards, explore and socialize. In the new media city Trbovlje we move from 13 to 15 October, where the students will be at the International Festival Speculum Artium presenting four interactive installations and a selection of videoart and animation in the section Digital Big Screen.

Nova Gorica International Festival of Contemporary Art Practices Pixxelpoint will occur in the first week of December but the process is already taking place - this year's curator is Rene Rusjan, program director and professor at the UNG School of Arts. Rene Rusjan initiated the process through which the artist combine research in collaboration with laboratories and research centers of the University of Nova Gorica, exploring the specifics of frontier life in the light of international flows, all on the intersections between art, science and everyday life. Students will have the opportunity to join these explorations and participate in the processes of works in progress, while others participate as independent authors.

In November and December we will host a dual international artist residency in the picturesque village Osek in the middle of the Vipava Valley, and furthermore a professional seminar, community workshop and roundtable, all within the framework of the European project PAIC - Participatory Art for Invisible Communities.
