MarijaLaura Potočnik, born on the 11th of July 1983 in Novo mesto, Slovenia. In my work I try to combine different art directions, concentrating on scenic design, costume design, installation and performing arts.
After I graduated high school I continued my studies at the School of Applied Arts, Famul Stuart. I collaborated with school and other projects on public exhibitions of the school. I also participated in many other projects: I worked on the graduate film Meshes, directed by Iva Musović, as a scenographer and costume designer. With the same occupation I collaborated on the film In 10 Years by Valerija Zabret, with which she was accepted to FAMU (FILM AND TV SCHOOL OF ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS IN PRAGUE). At the Electrolux Design Lab I presented the concept of a futuristic machine named Airdrop, which was patented at the Swedish Patent and Registration Office. Through my studies I came across many ambiental and performance art directions, which I now include in my work which is emerging in collaboration with the artistic group R.A.N.D.O.M., which I also co-founded. For example I would expose Spatium, which is a combination of installation art games in connection with performance and multimedia art.
