pETER Purg currently leads the New Media module in the Digital/Media Arts and Practices graduate/postgraduate programme at the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica (AU UNG), where he acts as Associate Professor, projects coordinator as well as expert/evaluator in realms of culture and media. After obtaining a PhD in media art, communication science and literature from the University of Erfurt (Germany), his scientific inquiries now also include media arts pedagogy, (inter)cultural management, media ecology and interdisciplinary collaboration. His artistic interests range from lecture and intermedia performances to interactive installations, as well as web, sound and body art, with a particular focus on public space.

He currently leads the AU UNG team in the PAIC - Participatory Art for Invisible Communities international project, and has lead international academic projects such as ADRIART (Advancing Digitally Renewed Interactions in Art Teaching), IDEATE (Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurial Application for Transforming Education in High Technologies) as well as the award-winning HiLoVv (Hidden Lives of Venice on Video). pETER Purg is coordinator of ADRIART.CE, a CEEPUS-supported network of 8 art academies from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia and Slovenia. 2006-2012 he acted as programme leader of Media Production Management international study programme at IAM-CMPM (Slovenia) for Middlesex University (UK).

He lead the interdisciplinary collective Bobnars United with over a hundred music events, research projects and intermedia productions between 2001 and 2006, as well as conceived anti-consumerism interventions within the Podgana PPP street performance group. In 2011 he was awarded "Prometheus of Science for Excellence in Communication" by The Slovenian Science Foundation; he acts as member of juries and boards in (between) art and science realms, and is member of the University-Business Cooperation Forum with the European Commission. He is a renowned external expert on academic quality and is currently member of the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency Council, therein representing the Slovenian Rectors Conference for the 2016-2022 mandate. Peter Purg also acted as independent consultant/advisor in several artistic, cultural, research and development projects for the public (schools, universities, ministries) and the private sector.

pETER Purg na Akademiji umetnosti Univerze v Novi Gorici (AU UNG) kot izredni profesor vodi modul "Novi mediji" v do-/podiplomskih programih Digitalne/Medijske umetnosti in prakse. Akademijo zastopa tudi v mednarodnem projektu PAIC - Participatory Art for Invisible Communities; vodil je projekte ADRIART (Advancing Digitally Renewed Interactions in Art Teaching), IDEATE (Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurial Application for Transforming Education in High Technologies) in nagrajeni HiLoVv (Hidden Live(r)s of Venice on Video); vodil je tudi razvojni projekt "Interna in javna e-platforma ter e-gradiva za študijske programe na področju umetnosti in kreativnih industrij"; deluje kot ekspert/evalvator na področjih kulture in medijev (MOL; EACEA). Je koordinator mreže ADRIART.CE, ki s podporo CEEPUS povezuje 8 umetniških akademij iz Avstrije, Bolgarije, Bosne in Hercegovine, Hrvaške, Madžarske, Srbije ter Slovenije. Na IAM - Inštitutu in akademiji za multimedije v Ljubljani je med 2005 in 2012 deloval kot predavatelj in je bil koordinator prenove študijskega programa "Medijska produkcija", za Middlesex University (London) je tam med 2006 in 2012 vodil visokošolski program "Media Production Management".

Je prejemnik priznanja »Prometej znanosti za odličnost v komuniciranju« Slovenske znanstvene fundacije v letu 2011; deluje kot član odborov in žirij ter komentator na področjih umetnosti in znanosti, je član foruma University-Business Cooperation Evropske komisije. pETER Purg je tudi član Sveta NAKVIS, kjer v mandatu 2016 - 2022 zastopa Slovensko rektorsko konferenco; deluje pa tudi mednarodno kot presojevalec za akademsko kakovost. Gostoval je na številnih izobraževalnih in kulturnih institucijah v Sloveniji in tujini; raziskuje, svetuje, producira in razvija na področjih e-izobraževanja, intermedije, novih medijev, medijske umetnosti. Med 2001 in 2006 je vodil interdisciplinarni kolektiv Bobnars United s preko sto glasbenimi in intermedijskimi dogodki ter nekaj raziskovalnimi projekti, sozasnoval je protipotrošniške performativne akcije Podgana PPP, bil aktivni član KD Priden Možic...

Po doktoratu iz medijske umetnosti, komunikoloških in literarnih ved na Univerzi v Erfurtu (Nemčija) raziskuje tudi umetnostno pedagogiko, (med)kulturni menedžment, medijsko ekologijo in interdisciplinarno sodelovanje. Zanimajo ga intermedijski in didaktični performansi, interaktivne instalacije, tudi spletna, zvočna ter telesna umetnost, s posebnim poudarkom na javnem prostoru.

Re:Neptun

2014

"Re:Neptun" is a reenactment of the Neptun Trilogy, combining the (non-digital-media) performance with body-art elements of all three pieces (2011-13) in the September 2014 live event that happened (including audience) site-specifically at the ex-Neptun factory beach. Instead of sardines, needle-fish was used time-specifically (no sardines were available due to full moon). The video is an edited documentary of the reenactment event that lasted about 30 minutes.
